Ten Must-Read Topics on Intellectual Property Finance in China
With data from over 50,000 visitors and from insights gleaned from discussions amongst the ICTiger Team, we determined the ten topics that attracted the most attention in 2021 and should be further studied in 2022 are as follows:
We determined the above must-read topics based on observations from IPfinance.cn — the world’s first IP finance online forum operated by the ICTiger team. IPfinance.cn is the world’s first open, non-profit forum focusing on the exploration of intellectual property finance. With the support of academic professionals and industry experts, the ICTiger team established the platform in 2020. The purpose of this platform is to balance theory and practice to quickly respond to the development of IP finance in China. It provides a means for stimulating cross-disciplinary discussion and enthusiasm amongst professionals, academics, and experts alike, creating opportunities for them to exchange ideas on the most recent developments within IP finance in China. One way that we have crystallized our insights was through the excavation and sorting of data and information from China’s leading financial advisory group. Beijing Zhongjinhao Assets Appraisal Co. Ltd. has participated in the issuance of all intellectual property securitization deals — in this way, the company has accumulated invaluable experience and precious prospectus documents. The platform is a joint effort involving MIT and Harvard alumni, legal scholars and practitioners, investment bankers, and valuation experts involved in IP finance and graduate students of law, economics, and finance. They worked together by collaborating on commentary essays, sharing them on popular Chinese social media platforms. With the support of professors from leading institutes in China, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Xiamen University, East China University of Political Science and Law, Zhengzhou University, Nanjing Normal University, and Renmin University. Seven total schools and dozens of graduate researchers, including doctoral students from Korea, have joined us. In its first year of operation, the platform published 34 essays, attracting more than 50,000 visitors. In this way, we have observed and gained insights on the hottest and latest topics of IP finance to be shared in this article to a broader world community.
